The organic cotton subproject is performed in Na Sang 1 village, Nua Ngam communes, Dien Bien district, with the purpose of making traditional organic cotton sources to serve the weaving groups of women in the village. The program has connected with Nha ho Research Institute for Cotton and Agricultural Development to obtain thoroughbred cotton seeds free. During the implementation of the subproject, farmers were trained by ACE in environmentally friendly cultivation techniques to ensure biosafety. Until now, cotton trees have bloomed. People are harvesting the first crop.
A customer of the subproject’s group said:
“We are trained in new techniques in cotton growing, such as not to spray pesticides, not to use chemical manure and industrial colorants for products. Instead, the group must use natural materials to make the color.”
